Our overall VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions have been reduced by 89%. We also operate with a wash-up solvent that produces just 34.3 grams/liter VOC’s, and a one step fountain solution that yields .40 grams/liter VOC’s. The inks, fountain solutions and solvents used within our facility are all produced with renewable carbon from farm fields. The vegetable-based inks used in our pressroom contain 71.25% renewable oils/resins, and the UV-cured inks employed by our Grand Format department are VOC-free. Operating an eco-friendly facility isn’t just a business model to drum up new business; it’s a part of our culture. In addition to our wide range of recycled materials in both our sheetfeed and Large Format Digital departments, we have a number of recycling programs in place for a variety of consumables including but not limited to paper, aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles, toner cartridges, batteries and e-waste. Employee incentive programs have been developed to encourage car pooling and the use of public transportation. We installed energy efficient lighting and a new HVAC system to help reduce our overall energy consumption. Our dedication to sustainability is an ongoing effort supported by our management, staff and business partners. We will continue to search out and evaluate new alternatives that fit into our larger matrix of environmentally responsible equipment, materials and processes.
